One of the Best--Judy Hass

Judy Hass passed away on September 9, 2014 and left a big hole in a lot of people's hearts. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Judy was also a loyal and faithful friend and volunteer to many in our extended San Diego bluegrass community.

Her dedication extended to a myriad of efforts including as a long term North County Bluegrass & Folk Club board member, where she served as treasurer and for a time as booking agent for their featured monthly bands. She assisted with other activities as well such as the NCBFC bi-annual campouts. Judy was truly the "Red Spoon Lady" at those infamous camping potlucks. awarding a coveted red spoon to those who brought the best pot luck meals. For many years, Judy and her husband Jerry have been the face of NCBFC serving as strong, committed, and effective supporters of everything bluegrass in San Diego.

Judy loved Summergrass. She was a Summergrass committee member from it's inception in 2003 and worked as the festival's treasurer and front gate manager for the lion's share of the festival's existence. Along with
husband Jerry, Judy managed and staffed many a Summergrass festival booth at dozens of events throughout California and the Southwest. Those tireless efforts reaped bountiful rewards as evidenced in the festival's continued growth.

The San Diego Bluegrass Society and the music community we serve has lost a true servant, fan and supporter in Judy Hass. We extend our deep sympathy to Jerry and the entire family at this difficult time. Judy will be sorely missed. Happy trails, Judy.
